  • Triaconta tip
  • Phishing and how to protect yourself
  • Market overview

Bundles performance

Bitcoin is down today and must remain above $7800 or more downside can be expected. In the last week two thirds of our coins went down in price and some very much so. One third of the coins went up and some very much so. Each project now has its own momentum and corrects while others continue upwards. The often mentioned correlation of altcoins with Bitcoin is far from obvious nowadays. Diversification is more needed than ever.

Big 3 Bundle (-3%) is down mainly because of Ethereum (-7%) although mitigated by up-and-coming XRP (+7%). Top 30 Bundle (-2%) is down and we saw Chainlink (-11%) make a weeklong correction which is technically enough to continue with a new rise. Number one in this bundle is Basic Attention Token (+17%), a project we described in detail last week. Penny Stock Bundle (-3%) is also down and very much saved by DogeCoin (+19%), a coin we added with the revision in July.

Reminder: As we announced two weeks ago market developments required us to delist BitTorrent and PundiX and they are no longer offered on our platform. Automatic revision of Penny Stock Bundle will replace these coins next week with Fetch.AI and Ren. If you still have BitTorrent or PundiX in your account next week they will be sold for Euro in accordance with our terms (article 5.2).

Triaconta tip

Did you know automatic revision in Triaconta Bundles improved the Bundle performance in 11 out of 11 revisions. Read the full report here.

Phishing and how to protect yourself

Is an email you receive unexpected? Are you asked to do something and is it important that you do it quickly? Be suspicious and look carefully. If in any doubt, ask the sender for confirmation.

According to APWG (Anti Phishing Working Group) quarterly report of 2019 Q1, there’s an increase of cloned phishing websites. Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain confidential information – usually passwords – by disguising as an email from Triaconta or the Triaconta website. You may at any time receive an unexpected email of someone pretending to be Triaconta. The phishing emails usually have a sense of urgency (Action required!) so you are tempted to stop thinking too much and click quickly on a link. You get the feeling that it is very important you do it now! The link will covertly redirect you to a fake website that looks like the real website. It is only a copy of a website used to make you type your password so the attacker can obtain this. The url address looks almost exactly like the real address so something like like trioconta.com (not triaconta.com) or qooqle.com (not google.com). If you enter your  password the attacker will use the password to access your actual Triaconta account or email account.

Protect yourself

There is a simple remedy to phishing which is called two factor authentication or 2FA. It is easy to setup and takes no extra effort when you login. Go to your Triaconta portal menu and click settings + two-factor authentication.

The Google Authenticator app generates a specific six figure code that changes every few seconds. If you enable 2FA on your Triaconta account the hacker would need not only the password but also the 2FA code. This would prevent any other person than you from accessing your account, even if your password was compromised. You only need to login once with the 2FA code, because you can set it to no longer ask for codes on your computer. Only if you access the portal from another computer or phone would you be required to type a 2FA code. Remember to always save your backup code or make a screenshot of the barcode. You need this if you lose your phone to add the same 2FA back.

Market overview

Very likely today the 18 millionth Bitcoin will be mined, only 3 million left. Bitcoin’s block reward halving from 12.5 to 6.25 is now expected on 14 may 2020. Investments in mining and hashrate continues to grow despite the price drop to around $8,000.

Grayscale is the world’s largest crypto-focussed fund and a good signal for where big money is going. It just revealed a quarter billion dollar inflow in the fund, which is triple that of the previous quarter. Institutional investors are dominating with 84% of the Q3 inflows. Is it finally  happening?

Litecoin celebrated it’s eighth birthday. According to founder Charlie Lee, if you add it all up 500 billion dollar worth was transacted through this blockchain.

Brave browser reached 8 million monthly active users and continues to grow with over 290,000 verified publishers. Since Twitter tipping was made possible in August already 28,000 accounts have received tips with Basic Attention Token (BAT).

Typically the domain of VeChain, we see Cardano tapping into the Global retail industry as well. They have teamed up with New Balance to protect their collector’s edition shoes. They will be registered and verified on the Cardano blockchain, so shoppers can be sure their purchase is 100% authentic.

The two weeks before Ripple’s annual Swell conference (on November 7 and 8) have in the past always caused the price of XRP to rally upwards and sometimes even double. No guarantees of course, but we are keeping a close eye if we get another “Swell pump” this year. XRP is also known to tank right after the conference so be careful.
