Triaconta Weekly #242

The following topics will be addressed in this weekly:

  • Bundle performance
  • Winners & Losers
  • Market overview

Bundle performance
The overall crypto market has reached the 1 trillion market cap and continues to hover around this level. Bitcoin immediately rose further to around $23,000 or €21,000 after the publication of the last newsletter and stayed there all week. We do not get new inflation data from America until February 14 and the chip dispute between the US and China seems to have little impact on the crypto market. Bitcoin still has room upwards or drops back to the 200-day average. The Bitcoin blockchain hashrate rose to a new all-time high yesterday, which is always a good sign.

Winners & Losers
DeFi token Fantom (+54%) leads this week and this unique DAG smart contract platform has also more than doubled in price this year. They are currently hard at work on a new version of their virtual machine on which the contracts run. Axie Infinity (+36%) rose above its 200-day average on Sunday and found support there in recent days. Smaller Celer Network (+29%) with its multi-chain dApps is rising surprisingly fast. We continue to follow this former PennyStock crypto as they continue to build and improve. Top 30 bundle topper this week is Apecoin (+25%) and shows that on top of the general market increase, we are also seeing an increase in activity in the NFT market. There were no significant losers this week either.

Market overview

Happy Lunar New Year! The beginning of the Chinese New Year (Rabbit) has had a positive effect on crypto prices for eight years in a row now. Based on the average historical rise in the first two weeks of the new year, we should be paying over $25,000 for a Bitcoin on Feb. 1.

Uniswap V3 will most probably run on the Binance Chain (BNB) soon. A poll of UNI token holders recently indicated that 80% will support the move from Ethereum to BNB. Lower transaction costs, faster processing and potentially 2 million new customers are cited as benefits. The vote on a final proposal will take place in the coming weeks. The proposal is good for both Uniswap and BNB.

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision – a grouping of international regulators – proposed last June that banks’ exposure to crypto currencies such as bitcoin and ethereum should never exceed 1% of core capital. Banks feared this would miss the boat as more and more institutional and retail customers demand crypto currency products. They joined eight major international financial lobby groups in October in calling for a five-fold increase in that limit. The Committee’s opinion doubled as a result, and the EU agreed to this 2% of capital limit.

Apple is coming out with a fantastic Reality Pro AR/VR headset this year. Inside the headset will be two powerful chips coming from the Mac that will enable virtual reality independent of an iPhone or a Mac. VR mode is full immersion for the wearer, but when AR mode is enabled, the VR world is blended with the user’s real environment, so to speak. Cameras on the inside follow your eyes and cameras on the outside scan your body and hands so that they can also be used in the metaverse. Apple’s arrival is of great influence and could start to give metaverse projects such as Decentraland (MANA) a huge boost in 2023.

The VeChain Foundation announced on Jan. 25 that it will partner with the United Nations and use the VeChain blockchain to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN). More and more sustainable solutions are using the VeChain blockchain to make marketplaces transparent and secure.
